Gilded Ganache
“We partnered with Jaimie at Savori Spaces for a comprehensive renovation of our entire main and upper floors, and the experience was exceptional from the initial concept to the final construction.”
Project Overview
A complete whole-home renovation transformed this dated 1989 Edmonton interior into a bright, functional family home. The awkward angled kitchen was redesigned around a 10-foot island, replacing corner pantries and a built-in desk with efficient storage and improved workflow. New cabinetry, wide-plank oak flooring, refinished ceilings, updated bathrooms, laundry room renovations, and fresh finishes throughout created a cohesive and timeless design that balances beauty with everyday functionality.
1989 Reimagined
What began as a dated 1989 interior featuring white melamine cabinetry, lino flooring, pink carpeting, and an inefficient kitchen layout became a complete main-floor transformation designed for modern family living.
The existing kitchen was challenged by numerous angles, limited storage, corner pantries, a built-in telephone desk, and a lack of functional workspace. Through a complete redesign, the kitchen was reimagined around a 10-foot island that now serves as the heart of the home, providing generous seating, prep space, and storage while improving circulation throughout the main floor.
The renovation extended well beyond the kitchen. The project included new cabinetry, updated finishes throughout, refinished ceilings, fresh paint, and the installation of 9-inch wide oak hardwood flooring that flows seamlessly throughout the space. Additional improvements included updates to the laundry room, powder room, primary ensuite, and second-floor bathroom.
By simplifying the layout, eliminating underutilized features, and introducing thoughtful storage solutions, the home was transformed from a compartmentalized 1980s floor plan into a bright, cohesive, and highly functional living environment designed to support everyday life and entertaining alike.
Client Testimonial
We partnered with Jaimie at Savori Spaces for a comprehensive renovation of our entire main and upper floors, and the experience was exceptional from the initial concept to the final construction.
Our home was a classic '1989 brass and glass special' that needed a complete transformation. Jaimie helped us successfully turn it into a modern, updated space that is now perfectly suited for our family.
The kitchen was perhaps our greatest challenge; it was a confusing layout full of awkward angles, hanging cabinets and a bow window that left us completely stuck on how to move forward. Jaimie was able to see past the existing footprint and designed a modern, practical new layout that unlocked the potential of the room. It went from a source of frustration to the most functional and beautiful space in our home.
What stood out most was her ability to listen intently to our preferences while knowing exactly when to push us outside of our comfort zone.
She struck the perfect balance for us by introducing creative, elevated ideas we never would have considered on our own, yet she remaining incredibly wise and flexible when we had specific requests or non-negotiables, like a bigger TV.
One of the most impressive aspects of working with Jaimie was her respect for our budget. Throughout such a large and costly project, she remained cognizant of the financial parameters we set. It was nice to find a designer who is as talented creatively as they are disciplined with project costs.
As two busy working professionals with a family, our schedules are demanding.
Jaimie’s involvement drastically reduced our stress levels and helped us to survive the renovation process. She handled the complexities of the project with ease, and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a designer.
